Salone del Mobile (iSalone) is Europe’s premier interior design show and attracts more than 350,000 international visitors every year. The show is a must-see for anyone in the kitchen, bathroom or interior design industries. Exhibitors come from around the world to show off their design flair, creativity and innovation. The show also comprises lighting, interior design, and furniture.

More than just the show

As well as attending iSalone, AIDT tour attendees will visit the renowned Milan design district to engage with pop-up displays and extra exhibitions, attend industry events in the heart of Milan during vibrant Design Week, enjoy a guided architectural walking tour of Florence, spend time on the stunning Lake Como, and enjoy lunch and shopping at Bellagio.

Spend time with sponsors

AIDT tour attendees will spend an engaging three days with major sponsor Smeg at its headquarters in Guastalla in the Emila Reggiano region of Italy. As well as factory visits, we’ll spend time at Smeg’s head office, designed by the amazing architect Guido Canali. In Cesana, we’ll be treated to a guided tour of Gollinucci’s showroom and factory, courtesy sponsor Lincoln Sentry.

Natural warmth of timber with practicalities of HPL

Natural warmth of timber with practicalities of HPL

The natural warmth of timber will always make a house a home, and timber details were a highlight in many of the design entries received in the KBDi Designer Awards 2017.

KBDi Certified Designer, Andrew Wright CKD Au, CBD Au (Impala Kitchens and Bathrooms), was one of a number of designers making the most of the advances in high pressure laminate and printing technologies, which allow the look and feel of timber without the wet area worries.

Andrew selected Laminex Impressions Sublime Teak for a beautiful and practical surface solution in this large bathroom entry. The product added a lovely warmth to the otherwise neutral space; combined with clever detailing, excellent space planning and a great response to the client brief, the entry won Andrew the category award for Large Bathrooms NSW, along with the coveted title of KBDi Bathroom Designer of the Year NSW 2017.

What the judges loved about Andrew’s entry:

A long and narrow space presented Andrew with a number of design challenges, but the very clever introduction of an island vanity layout proved a winner! The unique placement of this vanity accommodated the ‘his and her’ zones desired by the clients, and allowed wall space for heated towel rails. Finishes to the bathroom are warm and timeless, and detailing is perfectly suited to the overall style of the space.

Keeping active on Social Media during the holiday season

Keeping active on Social Media during the holiday season

KBDi Affiliate Member, Nina Slade of Prymore Pty Ltd, is a business consultant with a primary focus on the cabinet making and kitchen industry. With over 17 years’ experience in the industry, Nina works with business owners to minimise their business stresses and maximize their success. In this article, she shares some great strategies for souping up your social media during the holiday season…

With the holiday season approaching, many of your current and potential clients will be spending their time on social media. This means that you need to be constantly present throughout this time in order to keep brand awareness and generate inquiries.

Let’s concentrate on the word ‘SHUTDOWN’ for a moment: this is now a word that no business can afford anymore. All successful businesses continue to market or be present on social media throughout the whole year and do not shutdown.

Let’s think about it for a minute – your customers (Mr & Mrs Smith) are on holidays and have shut down, but are taking this time off to look for a new kitchen, bathroom, renovation, builder, plumber – whoever. So they engage in social media as their first point of research. If you have ‘Shutdown’ and are not continuously active, you are potentially missing out on future business.

So how do you have a holiday but continue to be active on social media?

Plan, Action and Execute

Plan: download the 31 day social media calendar with guided posts for every day. All you need to do find the images, write a few simple words and find relevant hashtags.

Action – use one of the many apps available (try Hootsuite or similar) and schedule them all in before you go away.

Execute – when on holidays, receive the reminders from Hootsuite and simply press ‘Post’ each day. Send it your Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin all at the press of one button.

You may be busy now and don’t have time, but if you want to keep the work flowing consistently throughout the year, find the time. Business owners tend to discount jobs, take on jobs that don’t suit the business in order to create work or simply not have any work at all. The stress relating to these three points alone worth avoiding. Be proactive now, plan ahead and watch 2018 kick off with new inquiries and work.

Don’t forget to download the social media calendar and place it in front of you as a reminder.
