The countdown is on to the closing date of this year’s KBDi Designer Awards. In our eleventh annual Awards, we’re excited to be launching three ALL NEW CATEGORIES and revised entry terms for collaborative design partners. You’ll find all the details you need in our comprehensive Entry Pack (download your copy here), but here’s the gist of our new additions:
**All new category** Kitchens Plus
KBDi has developed the ‘Kitchens Plus’ category to incorporate the special design effort required for kitchens with associated (and adjoining) functioning workspaces.
Examples include (but are not limited to):
Kitchens with Sculleries
Kitchens with Butler’s Pantries
Kitchens with inbuilt Study Nooks
Entries will be assessed on the full workability of and relationship between spaces.
**All new category** Master Suites
We’ve added a new bathroom category this year, to cover the careful consideration required for a Master Suite. We’ve defined a Master Suite as ‘a master bedroom with an adjoining/incorporated bathroom (ensuite) and any other functioning space’.
Examples include (but aren’t limited to):
Bedroom with Ensuite and Walk-in Robe
Bedroom with Ensuite, Walk-in Robe and Sitting Area
Bedroom with Ensuite, Walk-in Robe and Dressing Room
Like the Kitchens Plus category, Master Suite entries will be assessed on the full workability of and relationship between all designed spaces.
**All new category** Traditional Design
Designers working on heritage homes will love this new category: submissions can be of any residential design space (kitchen, bathroom, powder room, library etc.), that has been designed and decorated to reflect a particular architectural style. Architectural styles may include (but not be limited to) Georgian, Victorian, Gothic Revival, Queensland Cottage, Federation, Californian Bungalow, Hollywood Spanish, Tudor, Art Deco etc. Documentation should highlight the links between the design elements and the architectural style.
**All new entry format** Collaborative Design Partners
You’ve spoken and we’ve listened. Many of our Members are now collaborating with other firms to create potentially award-winning designs. Where both parties have shared equal responsibility for the end result, you’ll now be able to enter as ‘Collaborative Design Partners’. Learn more about this on page 6 of the entry pack.
