Planning on a white Christmas? Let Smeg lend a hand… in a case of perfect timing the Italian style guru has released a pure white version of its iconic retro coffee machine.
Winner of two of the most prestigious international design awards – Good Design® and Red Dot – the coffee machine showcases beautiful 50s styling, easy operation with professional results and a choice of five colours.
The ECF01 benefits from an illustrious Italian heritage – just like the very first espresso machine it was designed in Milan, the style capital of the world. Italians have honed their coffee culture since 1884 and this latest iteration from Smeg, the ECF01, is a manual espresso coffee machine that not only exudes style but boasts coffee making credentials that will appeal to coffee purists and techno lovers alike.
A thermoblock heating system delivers a fast service while its 15 bar pressure ensures an excellent coffee experience. The user-friendly control gives options of one or two cups and steam plus personalised settings for coffee temperature (low, medium, high), water hardness (soft, medium, high) and automatic shut off time (9 min, 30 min, 3 hours).
The adjustable frothing wand will create the perfect rich, thick micro-foam for cappuccino.
And by holding down the coffee button until the cup has been filled to the desired level, the ECF01 will store the knowledge and produce exactly the same amount of coffee the next time – unless you tell it otherwise!
One of the standout features of this new coffee machine, with its conveniently slim dimensions, is the ability for coffee lovers to make the exact coffee of their choice. It has been designed to take both coffee grounds and pre-filled paper pods – thankfully the plastic pods have been eliminated in favour of minimising landfill!
And in a welcome addition to Smeg’s impressive coffee accessories, a ‘knock box’ has been added to the collection of vacuum canister, milk frothing jug and tamper mat with compression tamper.
The stylish knock box, in black Teflon coated stainless steel with silicone rim and base, matches existing accessories and is exceptionally easy to clean due to its non-stick finish.
The Smeg ECF01 50s style coffee machine, along with the brand’s full range of coffee accessories, are available nationally from David Jones, Harvey Norman, Peter’s of Kensington, Myer, Bing Lee and Kitchen Warehouse stores.
The coffee machine is available in white, black, cream, pastel blue and red. It retails for $499 and the knock box for $59.99. Matching white small appliances from Smeg include toaster (2 and 4 slice), kettle (standard and variable temperature), citrus juicer and blender.
