KBDi Members and industry partners gathered in Sydney’s spectacular Museum of Contemporary Art on Saturday, 13 August, to celebrate the KBDi Designer Awards of 2022.

A stunning lineup of kitchens and bathrooms vied for State and National titles in the organisation’s fourteenth annual celebration.

One striking kitchen earned an Adelaide designer two impressive titles. Stefan Vignogna CKD Au (Stefan Vignogna Joinery and Interiors) won the State title of KBDi Kitchen Designer of the Year 2022 – SA, along with the highly coveted national award of KBDi Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year 2022.

Here’s what the judging panel had to say about Stefan’s winning entry:

This 1930s-character villa received a stunning transformation at the hands of a skilled designer. The reinvented space is both elegant and modern, meeting the client’s brief of a minimalistic style while still retaining respect for the heritage architecture.

The panel commended Stefan on his innovative design solution, striking concept presentation and exceptionally high standard of documentation. They were delighted to award him the national title of KBDi Australian Kitchen Designer of the Year.

This beautiful kitchen wasn’t the only winner for Stefan, though. Another stunning space made quite an impression on the judges, and secured the designer the win for the Kitchens Plus SA category.

The judges’ comments regarding this project were as follows:

With a historically significant house and an all-but-open brief, the designer was tasked with simply making ‘something beautiful’. And that he did. The intelligent design sees a fully functioning contemporary kitchen nestled purposefully and independently inside the heritage home. The solution is unique and exquisitely detailed – something beautiful, indeed.

We’re looking forward to having an ‘up close’ look at both of these projects at next week’s videoconference, and invite you to register for the session here.

The KBDi Designer Awards kitchen categories were proudly sponsored by Hettich Australia. NSW Development Manager, Shelby Hood, attended the Gala event and extended her sincerest congratulations to this deserving designer.
