Pytha Partners are thrilled to be presenting a knock-out keynote session at their upcoming convention in Sydney, with thanks to the support of Program Partner, ASOFIA.

Mark McCrindle is an award-winning social researcher, best-selling author and influential thought leader with a great understanding of key social trends and their impact on our business operations – technologically, demographically, socially and economically. He believes it’s critical that organisations and leaders observe these changes, and respond to the trends in order to maintain engagement.

The construction industry is certainly experiencing rapid changes in technology and demographics, and many business owners admit to struggling to keep up.  In their dealings with cabinetmakers, joiners, shopfitters and designers across the country, Pytha Partners have had many conversations with concerned operators about the declining number of apprentices, and the challenges they face in keeping younger staff on board long enough to train them well.

The data seems to reflect these concerns: despite some fairly enthusiastic efforts by various levels of government to increase the uptake of apprenticeships and traineeships, numbers in most states continue to decline. In contrast, university participation rates are on the rise, as are the numbers of young people moving directly into the labour market. What’s really concerning, though, is that those that do enter an apprenticeship directly out of school have a pretty low chance of finishing their time, with just over half collecting a trade certificate.

Mark will offer delegates a positive approach to dealing with employing, engaging with and retaining the younger generation. Pytha Partners are confident that Convention guests will leave this keynote with a greater sense of optimism and a better understanding of engaging and retaining Millennials and Generation Z.
