Silicone Sealant

KBDi Technical Bulletins cover NCC and Australian Standard related issues in an easy-to-read, to-the-point format.

The application of silicone sealant is often – quite literally – the finishing touch to a newly installed kitchen or bathroom. Silicone sealant fills the gap between horizontal and vertical finishes (benchtops and splashbacks, wall tiles and floor tiles etc.), and prevents moisture from being trapped in joins (between an inset sink and the underside of a bench, for example). In this Technical Bulletin, we set out items that should always be considered when selecting, applying and maintaining silicone sealant.
