The issue of silicosis has once again been raised in media, with the CFMEU launching a new campaign to ban engineered stone productions across the country.

With alarming headlines in various media and damning claims being made about the general category of ‘engineered stone’, it’s important for designers and specifiers to arm themselves with the facts and regulatory requirements as they stand right now. We’ve revisited our Technical Bulletin related to this issue and encourage Members to visit their exclusive portal to download this document.

Additionally, members and guests in Victoria and Queensland are encouraged to attend our upcoming (in-person) chapter events to hear directly from Caesarstone. The PD session to be delivered at these events is outlined below:

Silica, Silicosis and the Status of Stone
Kim Smith is the National Environmental Health and Safety Manager at Caesarstone Australia and an expert in all things WHS. She has a wealth of knowledge about the risks associated with silica and an in-depth understanding of the Government regulations designed to manage these risks. In this session, Kim will set you straight about the rules and requirements in place in your state and answer any questions you may have about silica, silicosis and the status (and future) of engineered stone in Australia.

We are also scheduling a videoconference to cover this topic, too, and will advise of the planned date and time asap.

As always, if you have any other technical questions, please don’t hesitate to take advantage of our Technical Support Service.
