Technology in freestanding cookers (sometimes called uprights) has always lagged slightly behind that of built-in ovens in terms of oven temperature control but now, in a world first, Smeg has launched a free-standing model with a perfectly controlled cooking environment.

With a history of ‘firsts’* in the cooking appliance market Smeg has again led the field with the launch of Thermoseal oven technology in a select range of freestanding cookers.  These ovens are the only 90cm models to have a massive 126 litre capacity and not one, but TWO rear-mounted fans.

The effect of Thermoseal, with its twin fans and rear baffle, is to create a dynamic airflow within the oven cavity – this cutting edge technology creates a perfectly controlled oven cavity that delivers excellent results time after time.

The result is perfect baking, every time.  Users can literally ‘set and forget’, safe in the knowledge the oven will produce the intended dish, perfectly cooked, again and again.

The level of temperature and moisture control within the Thermoseal oven was previously only available in commercial freestanding ovens in professional kitchens – the oven temperature is at an absolute constant (no spikes or troughs).

Succulent roasts, crisp pastry and impressive baking are all an everyday occurrence with Thermoseal – and several levels can be used simultaneously to cook quite different dishes, with no transference of flavours.

Smeg’s collection of freestanding cookers with Thermoseal oven technology offers unprecedented choice in terms of design – consumers can select from the vintage styling of the award-winning Victoria upright, available in black or cream enamel, and the commercial-inspired design of the Classic models hand-crafted in satin stainless steel.  Designed by renowned Italian architect, Guido Canali – the Classic has been an industry leader since its introduction in 1985.

Each of the Thermoseal freestanding cookers – both Victoria and Classic – are feature rich with some of the stand-out benefits including integrated self-cooling (to prevent heating of surrounding cabinetry), Ever Clean, easy clean enamel on oven interiors and gourmet culinary options such as pizza stone, rotisserie, and teppanyaki plate.

Smeg enamel deserves special mention – applied using the Electro-Static method the result is a glass-like finish that is extremely easy to clean.  Even the baking trays in a Smeg oven feature the Ever Clean enamel – with the addition of shaped holes along each side that further contribute to the unrivalled air flow within the oven cavity.

The Classic Symphony models feature a generous 126L capacity oven plus the high visibility Eclipse black door glass – this glass is opaque when the oven is not in use but becomes transparent and super clear when cooking is in progress.
