We’ve been been delighted with the uptake on our newly developed virtual events. While we can’t get together in person, we’ll continue to arrange inspiring interviews for our ‘touch-base Tuesdays’ and a diverse line up of professional development topics to deliver to you Thursday. The content will be rolled out via an interactive-conference-style or well laid-out webinar, depending the topic of the week. Touch-base Tuesday | Royston & Marianne

In our third Meet our Judges session, you’ll meet the lovely Marianne Gailer. Marianne brings over twenty-five years of experience in kitchen and bathroom design to the KBDi Designer Awards panel. Residing in New Zealand, Marianne is an active member of the NKBA NZ, and sits on the Board of the Certified Designers Society. She’s had experience on both sides of our Awards program as both past judge and winner, and with her obsession with space planning, she’s eager to help find Australia’s finest designers of 2020. PD Thursday | Making marketing part of your everyday

With five bustling businesses in the Enever Group Family, Linda Reed-Enever knows what it’s like to be busy! As a publicist and marketing consultant, she also knows the considerable value and importance of marketing. In our second Meet your Judges session, you’ll meet Sydney’s Annie Middleton. As the General Manager of Snaidero Sydney, Annie leads of a team of interior designers representing innovation, beauty and longevity in kitchen design. She has over 15 years experience in the industry, and describes herself as ‘an interior designer, a creative problem solver, an enthusiast in all things Italian, an inquisitive mind, a spirited cook, an intrepid traveller, an adventurous renovator, a tenacious leader and a devoted daughter, sister and wife’. Annie’s passion for design is truly contagious, and we’re looking forward to catching her enthusiasm in this session.

Solid Surfaces offer an impressive range of features and benefits for domestic applications. In this special product highlight session, Austaron’s Belinda Worden will walk you through the ways in which Staron Solid Surfaces can add both user-friendly practicality and inspiring design flexibility to your kitchen and bathroom creations. With a Bachelor of Built Environment – Interior Design and a long list of professional accomplishments – including her current position as President of Designer Matters National – Dominique Hunter has a wealth of industry knowledge and a fascinating story to share.

As the nation emerges from the COVID19 crisis, business strategist, Clive Enever, sees an excellent opportunity for a mindset makeover. Having worked in cabinetmaking, design and drafting for over a decade, Aaron Meyer (Meyer Vision) has experience at both ends of the concept to construction journey. Aaron knows how clear and concise technical drawings can eliminate design fails and avoid on-site hassles, and he’s eager to share his top tips for producing plan sets that meet and exceed Australian Standards.

Most of you will know Greg Grant CKD Au as the (outgoing) Executive Director of KBDi. Before he donned that hat, however, Greg was a long-serving member and the owner of a very successful cabinetmaking business in Brisbane. In this Touch-base Tuesday session, Greg will share his journey from a fledgling in a family-owned business to the head of a national industry group, with plenty of words of wisdom in between.

As the Colour and Communications Manager for DuluxGroup, Andrea Lucena-Orr researches colour trends across the globe and presents her findings to media, trade and retail markets. In this professional development session, proudly supported by Lincoln Sentry, Andrea will be sharing her thoughts on the colours we can expect to see making their way into Australian interiors in 2020.

Kate St James is a very well-recognised name in the Australian design industry. Kate was Editor-in-Chief of Universal Media’s Home Design and Living Series magazines (including Grand Designs Australia and Home Design magazines), where her journalism and interior design qualifications were put to great use. She held the title of Editor-in-Chief for more than sixteen years, and has jam-packed an impressive list of interior design accomplishments, training positions and industry organisation roles in her career, too. Kate could certainly be described as an ‘industry stalwart’, and we can’t wait to have a chat with her in this special ‘Touch-base Tuesday’ session.

Universal Media Co conducted a comprehensive digital survey of consumers in the midst of renovation projects at the end of March 2020. Sampling and Specifying – how Laminex is changing the game for designers

In this exclusive Member session, KBDi Premier Partner, Laminex, will walk you step-by-step through their freshly-launched digital platform. Kelly Jamieson will kick off the session with a new product update for Laminex, specifically speaking to their new sheet size and range. Navine Smith will then speak to Laminex’s freshly-launched digital platform, providing you with a step-by-step navigation into their new sample ordering system. You’ll learn how to set up a new specifier account, streamline your service, access more samples and view your sample order history.

WA Members, Jane Tincey and Alan Gmeiner are old hands at non-contact design: with their work in the mining sector, the pair have been designing remotely for a number of years. In this chat, you’ll learn how they go about collating briefs and preparing designs, often without ever visiting sites. Their issues with restrictions and logistics – and how they resolve them – are truly fascinating, and we encourage you set aside an hour for some design inspiration.

Contracts and COVID-19

Multi-award winning designer and newly appointed KBDi Board Member, Rina Cohen CKD AU, is passionate about the inter-relations of design and health. Her studies in the latter have given Rina a great respect for self-care, and she’s eager to share her learnings with fellow Members. In this session, Rina will be joined by long-time KBDi friend and supporter, Ron Redman, whose passion for people and personal success is both inspiring and contagious. Together the two will get you thinking about the value in taking time out for yourself in order to better your business and relationships with others.

Illuminating your WFH space for quality video conferencing

As Zoom and Skype conference calls become part of our every-day client communications, it’s essential to consider how you’re presenting on screen. In this session, our favourite lady of light, Adele Locke (MINT Lighting Design) will share her top tips for lighting up your work-from-home space with style. Adele will cover warm and cool lighting, directional light, colour rendering and more.
