GRASS Movement Systems

Apr 3, 2024 | Partner Message

A message from our Corporate Plus Partner, Grass.

GRASS is a European manufacturer of furniture movement systems. The company’s rich heritage in innovation and designs stems back to the 1947 when the company was founded in Hochst, Austria.

Since then, GRASS has significantly contributed to the development of products within this sector.

The modern-day ethos of the company is to develop and design products that add value to both designers and manufacturers. Designers benefit from the diverse application possibilities as well as the endless possibilities for personalisation, whilst the manufacturer benefits from faster, more efficient processing and assembly due to the system architecture.

A prime example of this ethos can be found within the Nova Pro Scala drawer system.

When considering the system benefits for the manufacturer – complexity and processing speed are key topics. Regarding complexity, the number of components required to build a high-side glass inset drawer is only 10 components, including the glass, which is considerably lower than other systems on the market.

For the designer, there are three unique value propositions. Due to the front fixing technique of Nova Pro Scala, drawer fronts can be 780mm tall – this means you can have a single cabinet drawer front when using it in combination with a H186, Crystal Plus or H250 drawer side.

Then there are endless customisation possibilities; in Europe the step “Scala” on the drawer side, is used by leading industry manufacturers like Valcucine, to personalise and stylise their product offering. The final possibility is when using the Crystal Plus drawer side; while it is most common to use 8mm glass inserts – the industrial design of the drawer side does not require any stability from the insert – so any 8mm material could be used, for example, if a veneer cabinet front was being used, one could integrate that same veneer into the drawer side, or even custom designed forms for creative effect.
