Small Format Tile Evolution

Mar 5, 2024 | Bathroom Design, New Bathroom Products, Partner Message

A message from our Corporate Plus Partner, Earp Bros.

Modern design speaks of tonality and modularity, and it is this ethos that positions small format as a central focus for Earp Bros in 2024.

Earp Bros’ latest collections of small format tiles, Raster & Fango, realise our vision of quality with an acute sense of aesthetic appeal. While these ranges individually cater to distinct aesthetic and material preferences, collectively, Raster & Fango epitomise our vision of excellence and the start of our small format evolution.

Raster

Raster, pronounced /ˈrastə/, is defined as the arrangement of grid and line matrix structures in various configurations within the same space. Thoughtfully inspired by the Bauhaus art movement of the early 20th century, Raster echoes the design philosophies of functionalism and modernism through its modular geometric composition. True to its namesake, Raster provides four distinctive configurations – Grid Medium, Grid Small, Lines Medium, and Lines Small. Through this lens Raster emphasises the design specification process, providing ample opportunities to create compelling and unique laying patterns.
Another distinctive feature of Raster is its diverse spectrum of colour options, presenting eight contemporary shades: Ash, Basalt, Chalk, Clay, Deep Blue, Moss, Mud, and Off White. The subtle warmth and modern elegance these colours emanate is instant.
Additionally, the impact of the Raster range is heightened when grout colour choices deliberately contrast with the tile. This deliberate contrast serves to accentuate the geometric and modular nature of the collection, creating a striking aesthetic.
The dynamic nature of Raster is realised in its porcelain composition. The robust nature of porcelain means that Raster is suitable for both floor & wall applications.  Further, whilst the tile feels like a matt finish, it achieves a minimum P3 rating, rendering it suitable for all internal residential areas and low-traffic commercial applications.

The rich palette and four unique compositions of Raster evoke a playful creativity only this range can espouse. In a landscape where many industry professionals lean towards purity and shy away from replication, Raster stands out with its solid colour and structured form.

Fango

Fango embodies a harmonious blend of sophistication and raw authenticity. This range is characterised by its unrectified edge profile, replicating the raw beauty of handmade tiles. The caveat here is that Fango is composed of porcelain, ensuring ease of maintenance, durability, and an extended product lifecycle.
Fango is available in both gloss and matt finishes. The matt finish is tailored for both floor and wall applications, presenting a palette of natural hues. On the other hand, the gloss finish (suitable for wall applications) introduces vibrant colourways to any space.
In the spirit of small format, Fango empowers designers and architects with creative options. The modular nature of these porcelain tiles opens up a world of creative possibilities, allowing spaces to be transformed into unique expressions of style and individual design.
