Royston Wilson CKD Au CBD Au resigns from ED role

Oct 24, 2023 | Industry News

KBDi’s esteemed Executive Director, Mr Royston Wilson CKD Au CBD Au, has announced his retirement, effective of 27 October 2023.

Royston has racked up more years with KBDi than most of us. He joined as a member way back in 2007 and was instrumental in the early development of our organisation. His name has appeared on many KBDi Award trophies (too many accolades for us to list!), and he’s enjoyed being on the other side of the KBDi judging panel several times, too. He has undertaken many volunteer roles within this organisation, from Chapter Committee positions to President of the Board, and was delighted to take on the role of Executive Director in 2020.

Since then, Royston has been instrumental in forging relationships with The Home Show, Décor & Design Show, Design Show Australia and other industry groups. He has secured multiple partnerships and award support, and with his experience as both winner and judge, he has played a pivotal role in reshaping our comprehensive Designer Awards program.

Royston will be sorely missed by the team, but we’re sure he’ll be no stranger to his much-loved Victorian cohort or the design community. In fact, he’s dusting off his scale rule and is eager to get back to his drawing board with some exciting design projects.

We wish Royston all the best for his future endeavours and look forward to following his creative journey in the months and years ahead.

What will happen in Head Office from here?

The KBDi Board has big plans for the evolution of our organisation, and they’re carefully looking at the governance structure and the skillsets required by our next leader. In the meantime, former KBDi ED, Greg Grant, will step into the role, supported by Leanne Hall and our incredible team.
